Citizens National Bank in Quitman generously donated 25 desk top computers to the City of Quitman to be used for a Digital Learning Center. Lance Burnham, Bank Manager, along with Citizens National Bank employees delivered the computers to City Hall last week.
“Citizens National Bank is highly committed to the success of our local citizens in Clarke County, and we are so pleased to have this opportunity to give back to our community. Helping area citizens find jobs is vital to our local economy, and it also aligns perfectly with the Bank’s mission of helping our customers to realize their dreams for the future,” Burnham said.
The City of Quitman in partnership with the Mississippi State Extension Service, will be offering a 6 –week financial literacy and job training program to help residents. Funding for the $30,000 program and instructor is offered through USDA.
The computers will be used for a Digital Works training course that will begin in February for potential residents who are seeking jobs. Digital Works is the company that opens the door for work at home jobs. To be employed requires typing speed of at least 40wpm, knowledge of Microsoft word and excel, and good communication skills.
“The Digital Works program applicants will be recruited by letters to area churches, Clarke County Tribune, and Facebook,” said Mayor Eddie Fulton. “It will take 6 weeks of training and three sessions in 2018 for 30 people trying to find jobs.”
Mississippi State Extension's Dr. Randy Loper will have trainers to handle the Digital Works program in Quitman.
