Russell Young has joined Citizens National Bank as Columbus Market President. With over 15 years of banking experience, Russell has been employed since December 2015 with The First, A National Banking Association, in Gulfport.
During his career at The First, he served in the position of Senior Vice President and Commercial Lender. In addition, he was active in the Gulf Coast community. He was recognized as a Top 10 under 40 “One Coast” Award recipient and a 2017 Graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast. Since 2017, Russell served as the Rotary Club’s Treasurer. The Gulfport Rotary Club also recognized him as Rotarian of the Year for their 2017/2018 term. He was also on the board of directors for the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Gulf Coast and served as Treasurer and Vice President of the Gulfport Business Club.
Prior to his employment at The First, he served as a Vice President and Commercial Lender for Charter Bank in Gulfport. He also has prior experience with Regions Bank in Jackson as a Vice President and Relationship Manager.
Russell is a native of Columbus and a graduate of Columbus High School. Russell received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree as well as his MBA degree from Mississippi State University. He also holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He is the proud father of a 5-year old son, Luke, and a 3-year old daughter, Clara.
