The United Way of Southeast Mississippi has announced that Jaclyn Baylis, Vice President and Relationship Banker for Citizens National Bank in Hattiesburg, has been appointed to serve as Board Chair for the 2023-2024 term. The announcement was made during the United Way’s Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 26 in Hattiesburg.
Prior to assuming the position of Board Chair, Jaclyn served as Resource Development Chair for the United Way, and through her leadership, the organization raised over $1 million to fund their various programs. As she accepted her new appointment, Jaclyn commented as follows:
“I am truly honored to serve as the United Way of Southeast Mississippi’s Board Chair this year. Over the past 17 years with my involvement in the United Way, I have seen dedicated business owners and community influencers on our Board of Directors come together to create positive change for our community. They have really moved the needle in health, economic mobility, and education programs for the people that need them the most. There is so much joy in being able to support our partner agencies that provide services that change the course of people’s lives. Whether they are providing meals to people who would not eat otherwise, medications to clients that could not otherwise afford them, financial literacy programs, or shelter and resources to adults and children dealing with abuse, their efforts simply change our community for the better.
Our efforts would not be possible without local businesses allowing us to host workplace campaigns where employees can donate to our mission. These same businesses generously allow their employees time off to volunteer with United Way. I am so proud to lead this organization going forward because when we live united, hope happens,” she added.
