CNB Receives Recognition from the United Way of East Mississippi

Meridian and was attended by a large crowd of community leaders and other guests. 

This award is presented annually to a recipient who has engaged in outstanding service to the community as part of their professional or volunteer work for a decade or more and recognizes extraordinary commitment over the long term, as well as a legacy of significant, enduring contributions to the community at large.

Upon receiving this prestigious honor, Archie commented:  “My CNB Team deserves this award.  Without them, community banking and the Power of Local wouldn’t exist.”

Archie is currently celebrating his 43rd anniversary of service to the Bank, and has received numerous distinguished honors throughout the course of his career.  For example, he was recognized in 2012 by the University of Mississippi’s School of Banking and Finance as their Distinguished Alumnus of the Year and with the Hartley D. Peavey Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence in 2013. He currently serves on the Strategic Planning Advisory Council for FIS, which is the world’s largest provider of banking and payment technology solutions, and is a member of the CEO Network.

Locally, Archie has served on the Board of the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation (EMBDC) since 2015.  While he currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the EMBDC’s Executive Committee, he is set to become the Chairman in October 2018.  In addition to serving on the Bank’s Board of Directors as well as the Bank’s holding company Board of Directors, Archie also serves as a member of the Distribution Committee for the W.R. Baird Charitable Trust which is managed by Citizens National Bank’s Wealth Management Division and on the board for the Alliance for Growth, which is a regional organization for economic development in East Mississippi and West Alabama.  He also serves as Chairman of the Community Health Improvement Network, serving on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee.  At Central United Methodist Church, he serves as Chairman of the Administrative Council and Church Treasurer

Also, during the United Way’s annual meeting, the Bank received the Community Cup Award.  This trophy is passed on from year to year to a corporate entity who demonstrates outstanding leadership and community engagement through its thoughts, words, and deeds.  In 2017, the Bank served as a Pacesetter for the United Way’s fundraising campaign and raised over $31,000 in donations.  The Bank received this same award in 2016.  Cynthia Harris, CNB’s North Meridian Bank Manager, recently completed her tenure on the United Way board having served since 2010, while Kristi Hodges, Business Banking Sales Officer, recently joined the Board as a new member and also chairs the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council.  The Bank also supports the annual Stuff the Bus fundraising drive which provides school supplies for less fortunate children as well as the United Way’s Imagination Library which provides books on a monthly basis to children between the ages of birth through five years old.
