Hampton Thames Receives Prestigious Mississippi Business Association Recognition


Hampton Thames of Meridian has been elected to a 3-year term on the Mississippi Bankers Association Board of Directors. Thames will represent his region of the state on the Board, which governs the 134-year-old association. MBA’s membership includes commercial banks and savings institutions operating in Mississippi, and the association's members hold over 95 percent of bank deposits in the state. A 35-year employee of Citizens National Bank, Thames was named President in April 2016. He originally joined the Bank as a Branch Manager and has served as a Relationship Banker, Executive Vice President of Sales, and Meridian Regional President over the course of his career at the Bank. Thames holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Mississippi. He also is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. In addition to his dedication to the MBA, Thames is very active in his community. He serves on the Citizens National Bank Board of Directors, is a member of the Meridian Community College Board of Trustees and serves as Vice President of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi. Thames is also a Member of the Meridian Rotary Club and has been a fervent leader for the Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi program (formerly Mississippi Junior Miss) for many years, having served as Treasurer from 2010 to the present and State Chairman from 2000 to 2010. Thames was named one of Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 in 2001 and one of The Meridian Star’s Top 10 Over 50 in 2022. Thames and his wife Michele reside in Meridian and are members of Central United Methodist Church. They have two sons, Davis and Will. Article provided by the Mississippi Bankers Association.
