James Brown Joins CNB’s South Region


James Brown has joined Citizens National Bank as its South Mississippi Regional President. With in-depth experience in both consumer and commercial lending and underwriting, James also has a strong background in branch management, mortgage lending, and accounting. James comes to CNB from Natchez where he has been employed in the banking industry for the past 17 years. He joined Britton and Koontz Bank, N.A. in Natchez in 2006 and gained valuable experience in both retail and commercial banking as well as a significant amount of time in accounting. When Britton and Koontz Bank, N.A. was acquired by Home Bank, James was promoted to serve as an Assistant Vice President and Banking Center Manager in addition to managing both a loan and deposit portfolio, James worked directly with the compliance, human resources, loan operations, and marketing areas of the bank and served as a point person for all matters related to the Mississippi market. In September 2015, he joined Delta Bank as a Vice President and Branch Manager, where he was recruited to open a newly constructed branch in a brand-new market for the bank. In January 2022, he was promoted to the position of a Senior Vice President at Delta Bank, continued his role as a Commercial Loan Officer and assumed the responsibility for managing the retail sales of the Bank’s seven branch locations and promoting a sales and service culture. In this role, he also served on the Bank’s Loan, Marketing, and ALCO committees. James received his Associates degree in Business Administration from Copiah Lincoln Community College in May 2006 and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northwestern State University in Louisiana in December 2012. Then, in May 2019, he graduated from the LSU Graduate School of Banking. Kevin Brewer, who was recently promoted to the position of Chief Sales Officer at Citizens National Bank, commented: “I am very excited to have James join our team and lead our South MS Region. James has a great background and a wealth of leadership experience in retail and commercial banking. He also brings a passion for understanding and knowing both our team members at the bank and our customers, and we are very fortunate to have him on board,” Kevin added. James and his wife, Amy, have a son and a daughter. Their son James, is 11, and their daughter Julia is 8. In keeping with our Bank’s commitment to community service, James was very involved in Natchez while he lived there. For example, he was a member of the Rotary Club and served as an Executive Board Member for the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Homebuilders Association. He also continued to maintain close ties to Copiah Lincoln Community College serving on its Foundation Board of Directors. Welcome to CNB, James! We are very glad to have you here.
